A Beach Wedding 

Though you may think of California or Hawaii when you think of beach weddings, you might want to add Virginia to that list. Virginia has 5,000 miles of shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, with numerous resorts and hotels available with wedding packages.

Wedding in the Wine Country of Virginia 

Again, you may think of California when you think of wine country, but, in fact, Virginia also has a wine country. Virginia is home to over 60 wineries which produce a wide variety of quality wines. Virginia now ranks as the 5th largest wine producing state in the U.S. What wine country areas should you consider for your wedding? 

Oakencroft Winery is the oldest winery in Charlottesville, Virginia and offers their winery courtyard for private events, including bridal parties and wedding receptions. The winery rents out their courtyard for evening events from 5 p.m. to 11p.m. from May through October and welcome groups from 50 to 250. They also can arrange a wine tasting before the wedding. Another Virginia winery popular for weddings are White Hall, located in the town of White Hall, just west of Charlottesville. This lovely winery recalls Napa Valley, but with the Blue ridge Mountains as a backdrop. White Hall Vineyards has banquet facilities with views of the vineyards and mountains. Get Married on a Plantation in Virginia 

Virginia has numerous plantations which date from the Revolutionary and Civil War eras, which include spectacular landscapes for weddings and receptions. Willow Grove Inn is one such plantation which features wedding packages. Situated on 37 acres of rolling hills and pastures, Willow Grove Inn has seen Presidents and Generals pass its entrance since 1778, which makes it the perfect setting for your Virginia destination wedding.  UPDATE: This venue has since been sold to new owners and is currently undergoing massive renovation (with construction of two new venue spaces) to prepare for an October 1, 2010 opening. Just Want to Elope in Virginia?
