Virginia Weddings

Where can you get married on the beach, in the mountains, or in wine country? California, right? Wrong, try again. Virginia. Yes, Virginia, you can have it all in Virginia!

Aside from spilling over with history, Virginia also has an overabundance of beautiful areas to elope or have a grand destination wedding. Let's look at a few of those areas:

A Beach Wedding

Though you may think of California or Hawaii when you think of beach weddings, you might want to add Virginia to that list. Virginia has 5,000 miles of shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay, with numerous resorts and hotels available with wedding packages.

Call Caribbean Wraps International at 1-800-495-9105 for information on Virginia Beach wedding packages. Locations include Little Island Park, Pungo, Munden Point/Back Bay, Eastern Suffolk, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, West Suffolk, Peninsula - Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg, and Outer Banks. Prices vary based on locations.

Wedding in the Wine Country of Virginia

Again, you may think of California when you think of wine country, but, in fact, Virginia also has a wine country. Virginia is home to over 60 wineries which produce a wide variety of quality wines. Virginia now ranks as the 5th largest wine producing state in the U.S. What wine country areas should you consider for your wedding?

Oakencroft Winery is the oldest winery in Charlottesville, Virginia and offers their winery courtyard for private events, including bridal parties and wedding receptions. The winery rents out their courtyard for evening events from 5 p.m. to 11p.m. from May through October and welcome groups from 50 to 250. They also can arrange a wine tasting before the wedding. They can be reached at 434-296-4188.

Another Virginia winery popular for weddings are White Hall, located in the town of White Hall, just west of Charlottesville. This lovely winery recalls Napa Valley, but with the Blue ridge Mountains as a backdrop. White Hall Vineyards has banquet facilities with views of the vineyards and mountains. If you desire a vineyard setting, think of White Hall Vineyards for your wedding or reception. Their phone number is 434-823-8615.

Get Married on a Plantation in Virginia

Virginia has numerous plantations which date from the Revolutionary and Civil War eras, which include spectacular landscapes for weddings and receptions. Willow Grove Inn is one such plantation which features wedding packages. Situated on 37 acres of rolling hills and pastures, Willow Grove Inn has seen Presidents and Generals pass its entrance since 1778, which makes it the perfect setting for your Virginia destination wedding. Willow Grove Inn has a winter wedding package of fixed price of $15,000, which includes exclusive use of Willow Grove and its facilities for the entire weekend; sleeping accommodations for 30 guests in their 18th-century manor house and antebellum dependent buildings; a full breakfast for all your guests each morning; rehearsal dinner for up to 50 guests with unlimited bar and wine service; wedding ceremony in the Willow Grove Library, featuring an 18th-century staircase and fireplace (music from a piano, flute or strings will accompany the bride as she enters the room from the staircase); Wedding reception for 50 guests, including unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; a many-tiered wedding cake prepared by their chefs with an array of fresh flowers; farewell brunch for 50; coordination of all aspects of your wedding.

Just Want to Elope in Virginia?

Want a simple, inexpensive elopement in Virginia? Then you might want to consider Serenity's Edge located at 4404 Murray Hollow Rd, in Thaxton, Virginia. Their elopement packages begin at $245 and include an officiant. Some packages include a honeymoon package of a night or two stay in one of their mountain cottages, with hot tub. They also have a Zen wedding package as well, which they say is an Oriental-inspired wedding ceremony. Their phone number is 540-947-2468, or toll-free 888-920-4224.
