Colorado Wedding Sites

Colorado is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S., and one of the best states to consider for a destination wedding or just plain eloping. Whether you have a ski resort wedding, a wedding on Pike's Peak, or one in the Denver Botanic Gardens, you will be getting married amid the backdrop of incredible and awe-inspiring beauty. What are some places in Colorado you might consider for your wedding or elopement venue?

Denver Area

The Denver area of Colorado is a great location for your destination wedding or elopement any time of the year. You're near ski resorts which provide spectacular winter backdrops, as well as Aspen trees which turn a beautiful aspen color in the autumn. Of course, the Rocky Mountains are just beautiful any time of the year.

Denver Botanic Gardens

For a variety of wedding venues consider the Denver Botanic Gardens, either on York Street in Denver or at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in nearby Littleton. The gardens make lovely, as well as fragrant, venues for your wedding, and can accommodate a variety of sizes of wedding parties. But, gardens aren't the only draw to the Botanic Gardens, as the Gardens in Littleton also offer historic as well as fun offerings such as corn mazes.

Denver Botanic Gardens
1005 York Street

Your choices at the York Street Denver Botanic Gardens include:

*The Romantic Gardens, the largest and most popular wedding site with the capacity for 125 seated or 200 standing guests. This site includes two gazebos and a long entrance under four arches.

*The Water Garden Gazebo, which is their most intimate wedding site. Almost completely surrounded by water, the Water Garden Gazebo can accommodate up to 20 guests.

*South African Plaza is a garden with plants from south Africa, and includes a water fountain. It can accommodate up to 80 seated or 110 standing guests.

Call their info desk at 720-865-3585 for more information.

Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield
8500 Deer Creek Canyon Road
Littleton, Colorado

The Gardens in Littleton offer many different outdoor and indoor locations perfect for weddings and receptions of all sizes. The following are some of the more unique wedding locations:

*The Deer Creek Schoolhouse, which can accommodate up to 30 people, is an historic one-room schoolhouse which dates back to 1875.

*The Green Farm Barn is, well, it's a barn. And barn weddings are hot! Treat your wedding guests to a barn dance they'll talk about for years afterward. Can accommodate up to 160 people.

*The Corn Maze is a location that's offered the months of September and October. If the groom can find you he can marry you!

For more info you can call them at 720-865-3585 or e-mail them at facilityrental@botanicgardens.org

Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch
Loveland, Colorado

Located a little over an hour from the Denver International Airport, and 7 miles west of Loveland, Colorado, 3200-acre Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch is your choice for "rustic elegance," having been rated among the "top ten Colorado Dude Ranches" by True West Magazine. You can choose to have your wedding at one of their outdoor ceremony sites, as well as stay the night, with lodging for up to 60 people.

While you will experience a real dude ranch, there's no skimping on the amenities as Sylan Dale Guest Ranch has a swimming pool, hot tub, tennis courts, massages, game room and sports areas.

Holding your wedding at a dude ranch also allows you to give your guests something they won't find at a stuffy hotel wedding - a hay ride, whether it's before or after the ceremony, or is even part of the ceremony itself. Overnight guests can also keep busy with horseback riding, fishing, birding, hiking and western dancing. For more info call them at 877-667-3999.

Stanley Hotel
333 Wonderview Ave.
Estes Park, CO

Located just an hour from Denver, and less than 6 miles from the Rocky Mountain National Park, The Stanley offers elopement and wedding packages to suit all sizes of wedding parties, from just the two of you to a big wedding with up to 300 guests.

Opened in 1909, The Stanley has incredible views in every direction, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as a member of the Historic Hotels of America. But, that's not all The Stanley is known for. The Stanley Hotel served as the inspiration for Stephen King's novel, "The Shining," and is known as one of America's most haunted hotels. (Just FYI, Stephen King was inspired to write the novel after he and his family stayed in room 217.) For more information about having your wedding at The Stanley Hotel, you can email them at weddings@stanleyhotel.com

Pikes Peak Area

The Pike's Peak area is just growing more and more popular as a top destination wedding spot, whether you get married in a castle in Manitou Springs or on top of 14,110-foot Pikes Peak itself! The list of great spots is long, so we'll just focus on some of our favorites:

Seven Falls

Seven Falls is located in South Cheyenne Canon, often referred to as “Grandest Mile of Scenery in Colorado”. And, grand it is. Seven Falls cascades 181 feet in seven distinct steps down a solid cliff of Pikes Peak granite, making it a popular spot for couples to tie the knot. You can host a wedding of up to 150 people at Seven Falls, although they do not have reception facilities and alcohol is prohibited. The two favorite spots for a wedding is at the base of the Seven Falls and at Eagle's Nest. For more information call 719-632-0752.

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park

Billed as Colorado's Natural Wonder, Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is part natural wonder and part amusement park. It's one of the most massive gorges in the world and boasts the world's highest suspension bridge, which floats 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River; the world's steepest incline railway which takes you 1,500 feet below to the canyon floor; and the world's longest single-span Aerial Tram. You will also find other rides and attractions such as the Royal Rush Skycoaster, burro rides, carousel and muleteam wagon rides.

It only makes sense that an attraction which holds many world records should be your choice for a wedding venue. The location of choice for weddings is the Cliff Walk, which is an overhang with gorgeous views, just perfect for those wedding photos. For more information on weddings at Royal Gorge Bridge and Park email rgbsales@cpucorp.net.

Royal Gorge Route Railroad

Experience the Royal Gorge from the Royal Gorge Railroad, which was selected by the Rocky Mountain News as Colorado's best train ride in their recent "Top of the Rocky" special section. The Railroad offers different levels of service, including a Gourmet Dinner, Murder Myster and Winemaker's Dinner. You can reserve the entire train for your weddings and thrill your guests with the beauty of the Gorge. Call 888-RAILS-4U for more information.

Cave of the Winds

If you want a totally unique, small intimate wedding, consider having your ceremony at Cave of the Winds, located in the scenic hills above historic Manitou Springs. The Cave of the Winds is what it sounds - it's a cave of geologic formations, "discovered" in the late 1800s, although Apache legend of around 1000 AD tells of a cave in the area where the Great spirit of the Wind resided. You can take guided tours through the cave and even be married in the cave's Bridal Chamber, which will accommodate up to 15 people. Another room of the Cave is Canopy Hall, which can accommodate 25 people. This would be a truly unique wedding location. Call 719-685-5444 ext. 24 for more information.

Top of Pikes Peak

Want another truly unique wedding location? How about the top of Pikes Peak, which is at an elevation of 14,110-feet. You can take the Pikes Peak Cog Railroad for a round trip lasting 3 hours and 10 minutes, with a 30 - 40 minute stop at the top of Pike's Peak. You can reserve the entire train if you like, and take yourselves, your wedding officiant and guests to the top of Pike's Peak for a truly memorable ceremony.
