California has numerous wine-growing regions in which to hold your California Winery Wedding. We're going to focus on 7 wineries in Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara and Temecula.

Napa Valley Winery Weddings

Napa Valley is one of the most popular and recognizable wine-growing regions in California. However, while you can visit most of the wineries' tasting rooms and sample their wonderful wines, local ordinances prohibit wedding ceremonies from being conducted in almost all of the Napa Valley wineries. There are a few of the historic wineries which have "grandfather" clauses which allow them to actually host weddings. Here are a couple you might find appealing:

V. Sattui Winery

Founded in 1885, this lovely winery is perfect for your California winery wedding. You can choose to have your ceremony in a private courtyard with a stone fountain in front of the winery, or under an ivy-covered tower overlooking the lawn.

For your reception, you and your Wedding guests will dine in a castle-like cellar lined with oak barrels. You can't get more authentic than that! The cellar holds 225 seated guests. Call 707-286-7273 for more information. You can also email them at hospitality@vsattui.com.

Charles Krug Winery

Charles Krug Winery is another winery in Napa Valley which is available for wedding ceremonies. If you are planning a wedding in 2007, however, the historic Carriage House at Charles Krug winery will be unavailable due to retrofitting. For weddings after 2007 the Carriage House is available to seat up to 150 people. The adjoining spacious lawn area can accommodate 1000 people. There is a minimum of 100 people in order to reserve the space.

Those of you familiar with Charles Krug wines know that they are some of the finest wines available, especially their lush Bordeaux-style red blends. Established as the first winery in Napa Valley in 1861, the winery is located one-and-a-half miles north of St. Helena.

Call them at 707-967-2200 for more information about weddings in 2008 and beyond.

Hans Fahden Vineyard

How does a wisteria covered tea house overlooking a romantic bridge and ponds with lily pads, cattails, and koi sound as a setting for your wedding ceremony? Or, a dramatic candlelit reception dinner in a volcanic ash cave? If this sounds utterly romantic to you then you'll want to consider the Hans Fahden Vineyard for your Napa wine wedding location.

Hans Fahden is located 5 minutes from downtown Calistoga, where you guests will find overnight accommodations, as well as spas and famous mud baths. The indoor facility, which boasts a grand room with a baby grand piano, can accommodate up to 120 guests. The site is available for 7 hours per event.

Call them at 707-942-6760 for more information.

Sonoma Winery Weddings

Buena Vista Winery

Founded in 1857, Buena Vista is California’s oldest premium winery. Located just 5 minutes from Sonoma's Plaza Square, the winery is a California Historic Landmark. You can choose to hold your ceremony in their rustic stone Press House, built in 1862, or outdoors in their secluded, wooded area. Ceremonies are held from 6:30PM to 11:30PM, with accommodations for up to 100 guests for seated dinner receptions. There is an area included for dancing. The price is $4500-$5000, with a 10% for weddings held Monday through Thursday.

Call 707.265.1460 or email Events@buenavistacarneros.com for more information.

Ledson Winery & Vineyards

For the ultimate in romance, consider a winery wedding in "the Castle" at Ledson Winery & Vineyards. "The Castle," as the locals call it, is a 16,000 square foot French Normandy structure designed entirely by Steve Ledson, featuring sweeping staircases, marble fireplaces, cathedral-style windows, several tasting bars, luxuriously appointed bridal suites and over five miles of ornate wood inlays and mosaics, which were hand cut and installed by Steve's son, Mike. Imagine arriving to your wedding ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage - yes, a horse-drawn carriage. It's that romantic.

Renting Ledson Winery & Vineyards for your wedding doesn't come cheap - the facility use fee in 2007 is $12,500, $14,000 starting in 2008. Call Phone: 707-537-3810 or email hospitality@ledson.com for more information.

Santa Barbara Winery Wedding

Fess Parker Winery

Fess Parker Winery is located on a 714 – acre ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, surrounded by vineyards, oaks, wildflowers, rolling hills and beautifully landscaped grounds. For large weddings you can choose the outdoor tent pad area or veranda, which offers a panoramic view of over one acre of landscaped grounds. For more intimate gatherings of up to 50 people, you might consider the Fireplace Room, which doubles as their tasting room. There you will find cathedral windows which highlight the vineyard and mountain views.

Call 800-446-2455 extension 142, or email carlos@fessparker.com for more information.

Temecula Winery Wedding

Live in Southern California, but looking for a winery to have your wedding? You don't have to go to Napa or Sonoma County, or even San Luis Obispo. You have one in your own backyard in Temecula. Temecula is a great area located 85 miles southeast of Los Angeles, 42 miles south of Riverside, and 60 miles north of San Diego, and home to over 30 wineries.

Ponte Family Estate Winery

Situated among 350 acres of vineyards and gardens, the Ponte Family Estate Winery is the perfect place for your winery wedding. The Ponte Family Estate Winery is one of the most elegant wineries in Temecula, offering you two romantic locations for your ceremony: an idyllic garden surrounded by lush, vine-covered trellises, or a grassy amphitheater surrounded by the vineyards. For your reception, you have the choice of a Tent Pavilion for parties up to 300, our their mission-style Barrel Room for parties up to 100. Having a small destination wedding? They've got you covered there with their VIP Tasting Room for parties up to 14.
